A spot of weather

It’s not looking too pretty out there, but I’m doing my best not to let it get to me. I already feel good that I’ve wakened and readied myself for the day some hours before my shift today. I have to leave the house in about 45 minutes to go run errands and whatnot, make the bank and the post office as well as the hardware store and Yo! before heading to the shop. Hopefully the rain won’t infiltrate too much. My only concern is appropriate footwear, and as I have already allocated the extra space in my backpack for the pair of boots I’ll need for ballroom dance lessons tonight, I can’t bring something to change into for work. It’s worth it, though; dance is a lot of fun. Lovely Rita’s mother, Kim, agreed several weeks ago to teach a few of us coffee geeks how to move with grace after hours. The shop floor is perfect for the lessons, and it’s a great way to relax, believe it or not, after a long shift. I think we’re starting the Cha Cha this evening.

So it’s just a quick post here before I head out. I’ve got to grab a little cereal and a piece of fruit for later. It seems a positive step that I’m actually considering what I’ll eat during the day, and when, before the need arises. I know I’m going to be hungry again just after noon, and so the fruit will happily tide me over until lunch at around three. With luck, anyway, this will be the case. Put some meat on the bones, Will. My mother, several months ago when we saw each other around Thanksgiving, said “So what’s the deal? Are you sick, have a disease you’re not telling me about? Using drugs?” As much as I love being thin, cokehead or AIDS patient is not really the look I’m shooting for.

Perry received his Christmas gift from me, finally, a few days ago. I long ago decided I’d make him a complicated package of music intended to broaden his tastes, so I published a DVD featuring 70 full albums from my collection. This however, as you might realize, is a lot of music to try to go through without any sort of previous knowledge about any of the artists. With that in mind, I made five additional CDs consisting of a one or two tracks from each album so he’d be able to more easily discern albums he’d like to pursue. If I may say so, this is a great idea, and I’m glad to have finally finished it. What’s more, Perry seems to be enjoying it; we spoke last night and he told me he’s already investigating several of the artists off the first CD. If you are looking to give someone the gift of your musical taste, I highly recommend this method. [WS]

Goodbye, small one

On Drawn! today: a great illustrator from The Netherlands by the name of Lotte Klaver. Most excellent are her near-daily entries, which you can find in her “schetsboek.”

As my three-day weekend draws to a close tonight I’m left wondering what the hell I did with the last 72 hours. It certainly wasn’t as productive as I’d hoped, but I had a great time nonetheless. I took a few small steps in fixing financial problems, which feels pretty good. I have a bit left to go, but it’s something I’m confident I’ll work through quickly. Started filing my taxes tonight, joy of joys. At least I’ll be getting my money soon (which will be applied directly to the aforementioned financial problems). I wanted to do some more creative work but I was burnt from the preceding eight days of work and by the time I had recuperated I was already stuck in the sloth pit. So with any luck I’ll be doing things this week after the grind.

Kathy and I took a short walk this evening post-laundry-excursion to set free the rodent prisoner we’ve been storing in a pretzel jar for the last several days. His name is Squidget (why?) and he was very sweet, and very small, but living in squalor and probably fairly unhappy. When Kath learned of this tyranny she immediately made to release him from his bonds. Hopefully he will make a home out by the Poestenkill where we put him. He didn’t seem to want to leave his cardboard tube, so he was forcibly prodded out with a stick, but then he quickly scampered off into the darkness. Kathy proceeded to feel good about this. I am still somewhat ambivalent. He was a mouse, after all.

Look for new site hotness soon. (How long will I be saying things like this before they get done? Now it has to be extra great.) [WS]

Pre-release post

Welcome to BLBLog. I’m not sure how you got here, since I haven’t made this blog public yet, but welcome anyway. I’ll be styling this and getting the whole show ready soon. [WS]

N.B. This post is the first one using WordPress to manage my mental meanderings, however I have migrated all my old LiveJournal posts to this blog, which explains the archive dating going back as far as it does.

Shot through with glee bullets

I, uh, I’m not usually like this, but, uh. Um.

That’s hot.

Super Nova will be awesome. 300+ songs, battle mode, characters, DX cabinet. I’ve nearly soiled myself. [WS]

Probably going to have some gas

We have these new hot dogs in the house. They’re awful, extremely greasy and salty. Our excellent onion sauce is not enough to mask their horrid nature. This hell-born dog and the bowl of chili I ate earlier this evening are in concert bound to generate some sort of GI discomfort.

I am currently planning a blog relocation. I will be leaving the fair land of LiveJournal soon to make a new home at my real website with WordPress. It seems vogue enough. I’d just really like to integrate my blog and portfolio and have everything look the way I want. Stay tuned. [WS]
