Fall upon us
And not a moment too soon. The weather’s been nearly unbearable; heat, humidity far in excess of the readings I prefer this time of year. But now the chill weather is here, and with it the usual host of autumn signals. In a week I’ll be up at Squam Lake again, David alongside. Hopefully I’ll begin on a new knitting project soon. I would like a new pair of gloves and a hat.
The car drama seems to be very nearly at an end, and now fully one year later I have set my sights on a vehicle. I should have it in the next few days, assuming everything goes as planned (which I am not necessarily assuming). Imagine, me, able to take myself places. The long reign of public transport at an end.
I’ve finally been to see some healthcare professionals. They all report me as being in reasonably good health and reasonably high spirits. I have a few cavities. Seven years will do that. I still need new glasses. I’ll get to those eventually.
It’s the season for settling in, settling down, getting ready for the long sleep of the earth. Strangely, I’m not feeling the pressure this year. And can you believe I have been here in Maine for one complete annual cycle? I can scarcely do so myself. I’m still alive, I haven’t gone crazy. I’ve changed some habits, for sure; some others, no. I just miss time to bullshit, hang out. But it’s not forever, me here. One more winter and I’ll do something new. I swear, I’ll do something new. ![[WS]](/blog/media/end.gif)
